CIPD needed to manage mentor-mentee relationships for its 'Trust Initiative' using PushFar, a mentoring platform, while handling data, workflows, and communications through HubSpot. PushFar’s API, however, was in its early stages, lacking webhook capabilities and having limitations on workflow execution times. This posed significant challenges in creating a robust system for managing mentoring relationships and programme communications. CIPD approached SpotDev to design a solution that would overcome the existing limitations to synchronise data between PushFar and HubSpot.
The Solution
SpotDev executed the project in several stages, starting with an initial assessment to understand CIPD’s requirements and PushFar’s API limitations. SpotDev created custom objects in HubSpot for programmes, mentors, and mentees, and developed custom-coded workflows to synchronise data between PushFar and HubSpot. Paging logic was implemented to ensure data sync reliability with HubSpot’s 20-second execution limits. The final data structure associated contacts with mentoring relationships and programmes for clarity and automation.
